Walking in Love

My mother always taught my siblings and I to walk in love. She was a woman who loved those around her and was a listening ear to so many. There were times when others did not treat her with the love in return that she deserved, but she never stopped showing love. Now, I on the other hand had to LEARN to walk in love. After being “beat up” by life repeatedly, I found it hard to love unless you earned my love. However, as I grew in God and in His Word, walking in love became easier as I wasn’t so easily offended by the lack of love from others. The Word says that we are to love God first, and then love our neighbor. Well, the order is perfect not only because this was His command, but because without loving God first, we are incapable of loving others in our human nature. Be pleasing to Him and walk in love. The reward is better than we can imagine for our obedience.

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:8 ESV ESV
