I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. Psalm 119:15 ESV
God's word is very powerful. When we say things like meditation, it's not weird. It means that we're taking his Word, and we are pondering on it, and we're thinking about it day and night, and when it comes to us, we are just trying to break it down and chew on it and pull some Nuggets out of it for our life. So, meditation means that we don't let it go. Joshua 1:8 says that we meditate on his word day and night so we can make our way prosperous and we can have good success. So, we take God's word and meditate on it until God begins to feed us from His Word. Meditation is different from reading. Reading the Word is great, but we should also be gleaning something from the scriptures when we're reading and meditating. When we meditate on God's Word rather than just read, it makes a difference. I want us to have pen and paper always ready for God to speak and begin to meditate. Our prayer during meditation is to ask God what is it that He is saying? Open your scriptures to me. What context is it right now that You wrote this in the time that You wrote it? When did You write it, and who was it for? Now God, as I'm meditating on Your Word, speak to me and what it means to my life today and making my life better. Mediation inspires us to become better and develop a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father!
