Is the Grass Really Greener on the Other Side?

Are you feeling forced to stay in a place where it seems as if all hope is lost? It can sometimes feel like we are stuck in a area of the “same old, same old.” It becomes difficult to navigate life and just when it seems the end of the rut is in sight, life happens. During those times if may seem easier to just step over into what seems like greener pastures, but are they really greener on the other side or is it possible it just looks that way from where we are standing? Sometimes we look at the lives of others and desire more without really knowing how that person arrived at where they are and the things they have acquired. What loss have they endured to reach the place of plenty? Naomi wanted Ruth to return and stay in her native land among her people, but Ruth refused to stay. The grass was greener where they were headed though it wasn’t obvious at the time of the journey. So, to answer the question: YES, the grass is sometimes greener on the other side. Ruth found her mate and we are products of the linage through Jesus Christ all because she steps over into greener pastures by walking into the unknown.

But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” Ruth 1:16-17 NIV
