Do We Value People Over Things?

Maybe I am the only one who is naïve enough to believe that money isn’t everything, and that enjoying my family and friends is more important. Valuing things leads us to spend longer hours at work, working for the next big promotion, putting others down so we can shine, and bringing other people ideas to the table and not giving them proper credit. Valuing things over people causes our relationships to suffer, causes stress levels to rise and ulcers to form in our gut. Valuing things over people causes us to lose sleep at night and leads to divorce and loss of respect from our spouses and children. In the end there is little to account for it when our values and perspectives were not in the correct place. Slow down, enjoy life, and place value where value is due. When the world causes you stress and then walk away, friends and family will still be there to help you put your life back together. So value them more than the outside world offerings.

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10 ESV
